Capsule Skateboard decks are made of a special high-quality polymer compound resulting from rigorous research and development from Capsule’s team of skateboarders and engineers. The huge benefits are that they can last up to 4x longer than wooden decks. They are 20% thinner than 7-ply wooden decks (think torsion flex for stored energy on tre-flips) and 13% lighter for higher ollies.
Capsule decks are water/weatherproof, offer up to 20% better impact absorption, and a longer-lasting pop. They won’t delaminate, and are practically indestructible; but don’t take our word for it. Watch the archival video below when Aaron Kyro and the Braille team put our COMPOSI-TECH™ to the test.
Roughly 50,000 trees per month are cut down to make wooden skate decks.
Capsule boards are eco-friendly because zero trees are cut down or used in their construction.
And unlike broken or worn out used wooden decks, Capsule boards are 100% recyclable unlike wooden decks being buried in landfills.
Capsule is working towards a ‘closed-loop’ model where used decks are collected at local skateshops, returned to Capsule, and recycled back into new boards.
ECO-Friendly Graphics and Adhesives
All Capsule graphics use FDA-approved inks similar to those used for food applications. These help Capsule create a technology that’s free of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and UV curing monomers.
VOCs are a large group of chemicals found in many products in home construction and maintenance. Once these chemicals are in people’s homes, they are released as “off-gas” into the indoor air humans breathe. When buried in landfills, they also penetrate ground water and soil which is toxic.
These are all great reasons to save a tree, skate Capsule, and recycle it once the board finally needs replacing.
